Preference — A preference is something a person strongly wants without declaring that reality must provide it. A scam victim can prefer that family members understand the manipulation, wish the crime had been recognized earlier, or want recovery to progress faster. REBT considers these wishes differently from rigid demands because a preference allows disappointment without declaring reality unacceptable. — Cognitive Process
