About This Assessment

A scam damages two things at once: how much you value yourself, which is self-esteem, and how much you believe in your ability to handle life, which is self-efficacy. This assessment measures both, so you see where you stand today and where to focus your recovery.

Read each statement and choose the answer that fits you best right now. There are no right or wrong answers, and honest answers give you the most useful picture.

Section 1 uses the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), the most widely used measure of self-esteem, with four answer choices. Sections 2 through 7 were developed by the SCARS Institute for scam survivors, with five answer choices.
Please note. This is an educational self-assessment, not a diagnosis. Take it again after twelve weeks, or at the end of the SCARS Institute course Rebuilding Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy After a Scam, to measure your progress.
